Many people carry pain in their hearts—hurts from the past, wounds from broken relationships, or the weight of personal struggles. But where should we bring these deep pains?
For Danny Mark Jatico, a participant in the Trauma Healing Program, the answer became clear during the Group Healing Session held at City Alliance Church in Cagayan de Oro from April 8 to 10, 2025.
The most unforgettable part of the session for Danny was the activity called “Bringing Our Pain to the Cross.” In this part, participants were encouraged to be completely honest before God—writing down their personal pain and offering it to Jesus. Afterward, they burned what they wrote as a symbol of surrender and release.
Danny shared, “It was so relieving. Nakakagaan ng loob kasi yung time na yun [nung lumapit ako sa cross] naging honest ako to myself and God. It is an act of bringing [my pain] to Jesus, so nakakagaan ng feeling sa loob. “
This moment led Danny to take the next step in his healing journey. He joined the Initial Equipping Session, a two-day training from April 10-11, that prepares participants to help others who are also carrying pain in their hearts. Danny said, “I can see so many opportunities and I know a lot of people with broken hearts. I want to take part in the ministry of God, having compassion for those people.”
The Trauma Healing Program in Cagayan de Oro helped 18 individuals start their healing through the Group Healing Session. Out of those, 12 participants continued to the Initial Equipping, preparing themselves to serve others.
This story reminds us that when people experience healing, they are often moved to help others heal, too. And just like Danny, we all have the opportunity to bring our pain to Jesus—and discover hope, freedom, and a new beginning.
