Suffering is an experience that’s common to everyone. But many still struggle to respond to it in a way that truly helps people and honors God.
On May 25, 2026, Prof. Noli Mendoza conducted a Bible Relevance in Modern Society (BRIMS) seminar under the Job series titled, “When Traditional Explanation Hurts: Lessons from Job’s Friends.” During the seminar, Prof. Noli pointed out how common Christian responses to those who are suffering, even if doctrinally correct, can hurt when given out too casually and too quickly.
Drawing from the earthly ministry of Jesus, as well as passages such as Romans 12:15, Prof. Noli explained how being present, humble, and compassionate can be a good first step to minister to those who are hurting.
