Last month, another batch of Group Healing Sessions (GHS) under the Trauma Healing Program took place at the United Evangelical Assembly in Poblacion 1, Pigcawayan, North Cotabato. On the third day, one of the Apprentice Facilitators, Ptra. Christie Joy L. Manzinares, shared her hopes for the participants:
“I expect that the participants will embrace the truth that it is really okay to grieve, to cry (whether you are a man or a woman), and to express and bring their pain to Jesus.”
That expectation was met when one of the participants, April Wapelle, shared:
“Natutunan ko na it’s okay to grieve. It’s normal lang na mag-grieve kasi we can’t hold our emotions… lalaki man o babae.”
Unlike the usual three-day timeline for GHS, this batch with 22 participants was extended to six days, from July 21 to July 26, with sessions held in the evening. Despite their daytime responsibilities, both facilitators and participants made the sacrifice to show up each night. They made sure not to let their busy schedules stand in the way of their journey of learning and healing.
Another round of GHS and an Initial Equipping Session were held from June 24 to 27 at the Assembly of God Church in Poblacion 3. Praise God that all 16 registered participants completed the sessions, with four of them advancing to the Initial Equipping and successfully passed.
We pray that their commitment and perseverance will lead not only to personal restoration but also to the healing of others in their communities.
