MAKING THE BIBLE KNOWN

We thank the Lord for the commencement of another round of Cornerstone Cordillera Cluster Oral Bible Translation workshops!

From March 2 to 14, twelve translators representing the Isneg, Masadiit, Sadanga, and Vanao language groups will once again gather at the PBS Tower to translate portions of the Word of God into their respective languages. This time, the chosen passages are about the crucifixion, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus from the Gospel of Matthew.

Throughout the workshop, the translators will be accompanied by United Bible Societies Global Translation Consultants Dr. Edgar Ebojo and Dr. Fausto Liriano, Translators Association of the Philippines Translation Consultant Ms. Marie Castillo, and four Bible translation exegetes who will each be working with a specific Cordillera language team. This workshop is also timely, since the translated passages on Jesus’ Passion and resurrection will be ready for public proclamation by the arrival of this year’s Holy Week.

Bible translation is a difficult, yet deeply rewarding, pursuit. Let’s pray that the Lord continues to guide every translator, exegete, and consultant so that more people from the Cordilleras will be blessed with God’s Word!
