MAKING THE BIBLE KNOWN

A couple of years ago, the Philippine Bible Society visited Catanduanes—known as the Happy Island, yet also called the Land of the Howling Winds. Through the Adopt-A-Church Program at that time, the team reached the province in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Rolly, bringing support to affected churches and communities through Bible distribution and free discipleship training.

On February 23, the Philippine Bible Society returned to the province to conduct an orientation on the Karunungang Panghabang-buhay Booklet—a Scripture resource containing the books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes—alongside a free Scripture distribution in Virac, Catanduanes. More than 22,000 copies of the booklet and 4,000 New Testament copies were distributed during the event.

Pastors and church leaders attended, with former General Secretaries of the Philippine Bible Society Ms. Perry Cartera (2021–2025) and Ms. Nora Lucero (2003–2021), together with Ms. Vicky Franco, Bible Engagement and Advocacy Department Manager, and Ptr. Mel Cartera, serving as facilitators.

From the following day until February 27, a Trauma Healing Program (THP) event was conducted, led by Ms. Perry Cartera and Ptr. Mel Cartera, both serving as certified THP Master Facilitators.
