The audio recording of Ang Bible: Pinoy Version is nearing completion and will soon be available on BibliApp Pilipinas!
Originally launched in printed format in 2023, the Pinoy Version is the first complete heterogeneous or mixed-language Bible translation in the country—faithful to the original Hebrew and Greek texts, yet natural-sounding and relatable to everyday Filipino readers.
In 2024, the audio recording project began at the Far East Broadcasting Company (FEBC) Philippines studio. But by God’s grace and provision, this year we are continuing the project in the Bible Society’s own audio recording studio, bringing God’s Word to life through spoken word for more people to access and experience.
Dr. Anicia del Corro, translation consultant for the project, shared the thoughtful approach behind the audio edition. She said that the Pinoy Version was intentionally translated to sound natural, reflecting how many Filipinos actually speak.
She added that this careful balance guided the recording process, ensuring the narration sounds authentically Filipino and not like someone imitating an American accent. “Kapag nagre-record kami at [naririnig] ko na parang Amerikano [ang accent], ipinababago ko dahil hindi ’yun ang natural,” she said, because the goal is to make the audio feel natural and comfortable to listen to for Filipino listeners.
When asked why the audio format matters, Dr. del Corro explained that hearing the Bible spoken in one’s everyday language is powerful. “When you are talking about the Word of God, the Pinoy Version is the most comfortable version to represent your ideas. That is why when you want it to be easy and natural—siyempre, oral [version] ’yan,” she said.
Let us continue to pray for the voice artists contributing their talents for the project, the PBS Digital Publishing staff coordinating the activities and editing the recordings, and Dr. Anicia del Corro, who oversees the process.
The studio is also recording the audio version of Ti Baro a Naimbag a Damag Biblia (meaning-based Ilokano Bible translation), and will be available in BibliApp Pilipinas early next year.
