World Day of Prayer
Every year, the Philippine Bible Society, along with other Bible Societies around the globe, observe May 9 as World Day of Prayer, enjoining everyone to intercede for the Bible work worldwide. The World Day of Prayer also commemorates the founding of the United Bible Societies—a fellowship of 147 affiliated Bible Societies which translate, print and distribute the Scriptures in more than 200 countries and territories.
Today, the Philippine Bible Society celebrated the World Day of Prayer in a solemn program, remembering the Bible Societies who are laboring to make the Bible known. PBS was joined by partners from the Episcopal Commision for the Biblical Apostolate (ECBA), Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches (PCEC), National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP), The Christian and Missionary Alliance Churches of the Philippines (CAMACOP) and Intercessors for the Philippines (IFP) in interceding not only for the United Bible Societies but also for the nation.
Join us today in observing the World Day of Prayer.
May 9
Lord of our past, we thank you for those who, in obedience to your call, have founded and built the Bible Societies of our Fellowship and brought them together into one worldwide Fellowship.
Lord of our present, we thank you for the unifying, healing and restoring effect of the Scriptures, drawing together Christians of every tradition in the single task of making the message of the Bible available, accessible, understood and applied.
Lord of our future, we thank you for the sure and certain hope that, whether we work in barren or fruitful circumstances, our labour is not in vain since you have promised that your Word will not fall short of what you plan for it but will do everything you send it to do.
May we take strength from your blessing and protection in the past days.
May we work together to maintain the unity of the Spirit with one heart and mind in the present days.
And may we renew our vision to strive for a future day when all nations live under the blessing and direction of your Word.
In the name of the Father who sustains, the Son who heals us and the Spirit who inspires us.
Amen.
