The God of Perfect Rest

beach bench boardwalk bridge 276259 - Philippine Bible Society

You may have booked that ticket. You may have planned out that trip long before the lockdown. You were looking forward to this much awaited break!  Who wouldn’t?  You’ve spent months and months on a school project or on a work assignment; a respite would have been wonderful!  Who would have thought COVID-19 could happen!

In the midst of COVID, we ask ourselves— can we really rest (our minds and hearts) during this time of unrest?

This Holy Week, let us remember what God did. Let us rest in His promise in Matthew 11:28-30:

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.’

Traditionally, the Holy Week marks our rest from all the noise and activities that engage us on a daily basis.  But these verses in Matthew tell us that whenever we seek God, wherever we encounter His presence, in Him, there is perfect rest.

Now, more than ever, this season of unrest and uncertainty calls us to approach His throne and find refuge in Him.  Let us go back to the greatest story ever told – the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. What Jesus did more than 2,000 years ago, never go out of style or out of tune even to this day. His love propels us to face this crisis with hope, confidence, and certainty.

We are able to face each day with faith and assurance that God is with us because the God whom we worship is our PERFECT REST.

Dear God, in this time of crisis, may I be reminded that You alone holds my tomorrow.  You are my assurance of a perfect peace in the midst of the strongest storms in my life.  Thank You for the love that sustains me.  Amen.

“It is a blessing to be able to support our local churches in need of Bibles and Bible study programs. It is our hope that they not only grow in terms of membership but also have the heart to extend spiritual help to others, just like how they have received help.”

“I praise and thank our Almighty God that, through PBS, I now own a Poimen version of MBB (Magandang Balita Biblia) in the national language of the Philippines – Tagalog.
Knowing Matthew 10:32-33, I read and study the Bible so that I will not be dismayed when the Lord Jesus Christ comes. Life is too short compared with the promise of eternal life in God’s Kingdom.”

I think this is very helpful to every readers. The word of the Lord are the food of our soul which we always need every minute of our life. I dont often read the Bible but everytime i open it, God was always like in front of me and speaking as what is something i'm just needing to hear. He speaks to me and i can feel it. A million thanks to You my Lord.
