The Gift of Unity: 2019 National Bible Month Culmination

The Gift of Unity: 2019 National Bible Month Culmination

From December 2018 to the early weeks of January 2019, the Philippine Bible Society (PBS) hosted a series of National Bible Month Planning and Gathering sessions for church leaders and representatives all over Metro Manila. These meetings were an important step in making the country’s NBM celebration as dynamic and transformative as possible. Each session allowed the attendees to connect and to prepare for a unified Bible distribution initiative in each of their cities.

Fast forward to the end of January 2019, PBS opened its doors once again for these same church leaders and representatives. This gathering, known as the “National Bible Month Culmination,” happened on January 31, 2019 (Thursday) at the PBS Ministry Center. There were more than a hundred attendees.

Dr. Nora Lucero, PBS General Secretary, was present to express her gratitude for the hard work, passion, and determination of these church leaders and coordinators.

A BLESSED TIME FOR FELLOWSHIP

The attendees began the day with thanksgiving to God. They sang songs of praise to the Lord, read the National Bible Month 2019’s Scripture reference verses–Psalm 19:7-8 and 2 Timothy 3:14-17, and prayed together. This was also the first time that they were able to view and listen to the winning entry of the 2019 National Bible Month Songwriting contest. (Click here for the video!)

AN ENCOURAGING PLATFORM FOR DISCUSSION

Karl Ivan Gervacio (PBS Church Relations Officer) and Bryan Anastacio (PBS Events Coordinator) facilitated the remaining hours of the event while a couple of the church coordinators began giving one testimony-report after another. They reported on the different places they reached within their cities, the unexpected people that had positive responses to receiving Bibles, and the love they felt from the Lord as He blessed their Bible distribution plans.

A UNITED STEP FORWARD

One sentiment was common throughout the different testimony-reports. Noel Cortez, one of the event’s attendees, summarized this thought completely and concisely. He said, “The Philippine Bible Society gave us each other. On the spot and on the dot, we became united because of the Lord.”

“We became united because of the Lord.”

Weeks may have already passed since the end of National Bible Month 2019, but the words of Bryan Anastacio (PBS Events Coordinator) should always stay with us. He said, “We want the work we started in January to continue. Just because NBM is done, it doesn’t mean that the work is over.”

Amen! The mission of making the Bible known continues! Praise the Lord for we are more united than ever in spreading His Word and His love to our fellow Filipinos.

“It is a blessing to be able to support our local churches in need of Bibles and Bible study programs. It is our hope that they not only grow in terms of membership but also have the heart to extend spiritual help to others, just like how they have received help.”

“We are thankful since each individual now has a Bible. Our members will no longer have a hard time reading. Thank you also for the discipleship materials for these will help all in getting to know Jesus and to know how to be a better Christian.”

“I praise and thank our Almighty God that, through PBS, I now own a Poimen version of MBB (Magandang Balita Biblia) in the national language of the Philippines – Tagalog.
Knowing Matthew 10:32-33, I read and study the Bible so that I will not be dismayed when the Lord Jesus Christ comes. Life is too short compared with the promise of eternal life in God’s Kingdom.”

I think this is very helpful to every readers. The word of the Lord are the food of our soul which we always need every minute of our life. I dont often read the Bible but everytime i open it, God was always like in front of me and speaking as what is something i'm just needing to hear. He speaks to me and i can feel it. A million thanks to You my Lord.
