The Future in the Present?
DIGITAL. To respond to a fast-paced ever changing world, digital experts from the United Bible Societies have launched the Global Digital Project (GDP), which aims to equip all Bible Societies with an online presence and digital skills that will provide a 4-fold Benefit for each participating Bible Society.
The GDP will help a participating Bible Society to develop a strategy relevant to its culture and audience, create a new or improved website and social media, train a staff to take the digital strategy forward, and, develop tools to gather support and market the Bible Society online.
Simply put, what is commonplace in the future should already have its bedrock of early implementations, more so, in the ministry of the Philippine Bible Society (PBS), which leads us to our subject of bringing future ‘apps’ in the present…
“In our quest for reaching netizens from all over the world in this technological society, it is good that there is a working social networking system for PBS. However, during the Global Digital Project conference held in The Netherlands last September 23-25, new paradigms and techniques were introduced that will level-up the present system that would allow a more friendly and innovative digital interaction between PBS and its cyber friends.”
That was how PBS Communications OIC Raymond Francisco saw the project in terms of taking the digital strategy to the next step.
“At the end of the day, this is one of the various ways and formats that the Philippine Bible Society, and the United Bible Societies, can bring to an ever-changing world God’s never-ever-changing WORD,” he said.
