The Big Picture: PBS Translation Projects to Pray Over and UBS Translation News to Give Thanks For

Isn’t it amazing that we get to read God’s Word in languages that we understand today? The beauty of Bible translation work is that we get to feel and experience the life-changing truth contained in the Gospel in our very own heart language. For many, they will get to read about Jesus and His public ministry in English. Others will get to immerse themselves in the lyrical poetry of the Psalms in Tagalog, Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Ilokano, and more. On the other hand, our foreign brothers and sisters in Christ might feel more comfortable reading God’s Word in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Korean, and others.

We are happy to share with you these praise and prayer items to keep you up to date on the latest happenings in the wonderful world of Bible translation work.

Let us be encouraged to pray unceasingly for our local Bible translation initiatives! #PraywithPBS

LATEST UBS BIBLE TRANSLATION ROADMAP

Did you know?

This official translation roadmap was approved by the United Bible Societies (UBS) in November 2017. It is a published document that maps out how UBS plans to finish 1,200 Scripture translations that will hopefully reach over 600 million people by the year 2038.

When representatives from different Bible Societies all over the world convened in Athens, Greece last May 2019 for the UBS Global Roundtable Exchange Meeting, they had many reasons to celebrate. Here are some of them:

Praise the Lord for all of these blessings!

Behind these statistics are teams of Bible translators who work tirelessly to translate God’s Word. They strive to achieve faithful translations of the Scripture from the original biblical languages of Hebrew and Greek into our modern languages today. Let us pray for these hardworking men and women who have dedicated their time, energy, and resources to making the Bible known. May they remember that the one true source of their knowledge and wisdom is God, our heavenly Father. We also pray for His protection and comfort to be upon these Bible translators and their families. As they persevere in this challenging yet meaningful ministry, we pray for them to receive daily strength and good health.
