CAPE VERDE

Colossians 1:13 –  “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and
brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.”

Cape Verde, a chain of volcanic islands in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of West Africa, is home to about 560,000 people, with a large diaspora living across Europe, the Americas, and Africa due to economic migration and recurring drought challenges. The nation’s spiritual heritage is strongly shaped by Christanity, with Roman Catholicism recognized as the dominant faith tradition alongside growing evangelical communities. While faith is deeply woven into culture, many believers long for renewed spiritual depth rooted in Scripture and a living relationship with Jesus.

These islands carry a story of resilience — communities shaped by migration, worship, and hope across generations. As Colossians reminds us, Christ calls people out of darkness into His Kingdom, inviting Cape Verde into deeper freedom and spiritual renewal.

Prayer Focus:

• Pray for biblical preaching across Cape Verde that is grounded in God’s Word and free from superstition and syncretistic practices.
• Ask the Lord to awaken vibrant, personal relationships with Jesus that move beyond religious rules and traditions into genuine discipleship and transformation.
• Lift up the many Cape Verdeans living abroad, praying for divine encounters with Christ that bring identity, restoration, and a renewed sense of spiritual home wherever they are.
