Pray with PBS: The Southern Catanduanes Translation Workshop

We thank everyone who joined us in praying for the “Bikol Southern Catanduanes New Testament Translation Workshop,” which happened from May 20-24, 2019 in Virac, Catanduanes. This workshop aimed to equip and select translators for the Bikol Southern Catanduanes NT translation project. Their initial goal is to complete the Gospel of Mark.

The Bishop of Virac, the local government unit, the education sector (through the Schools Division Superintendent), and the ministerial fellowship in the area gave their support after a team of PBS staff came to visit last March 25-28, 2019. We are grateful for this collaboration that will hopefully touch the hearts of many of our brothers and sisters in Virac, Catanduanes.

Catanduanes is often called the “Land of the Howling Winds” due to its location being so close to the Pacific Ocean. Its proximity to this body of water makes it more vulnerable to typhoons and tropical storms.

These were our prayer points a week prior to the translation workshop:

  • The safety of everyone involved in this Translation Workshop
  • God-loving and God-fearing individuals, led by the Holy Spirit, who will be committed in completing the Bikol Southern Catanduanes New Testament
  • The completion of the Southern Catanduanes New Testament (Gospel of Mark) in an accurate and timely manner
  • The protection and day-to-day lives of the people of Southern Catanduanes who live so close to the Pacific Ocean. This body of water is a breeding ground for many destructive natural disasters, but we put our faith and trust in our sovereign God who has full control over land, air, and sea.

Stronger and deeper relationships with the leaders and authorities in Virac, Catanduanes. May our collaborations with them be blessed for the greater glory of the Lord.
