PBS Teams Up with Bible Societies from Chinese-speaking countries
The Philippine Bible Society (PBS) will partner with the Bible Societies of Singapore, Taiwan and Hongkong to promote the use and reading of Chinese Bibles in Chinese churches in the Philippines
PBS Associate General Secretary Perry Cartera said that this partnership came about during the Chinese Scripture Forum hosted by the Bible Society in Taiwan last May 6, 2015.
Mrs. Cartera added that the forum served as a venue wherein National Bible Societies from Chinese-speaking countries can collaborate to promote the use and reading of Chinese Scriptures in their respective countries. The Bible Societies also present the Scripture materials in Chinese that they develop and produce such as Study Bibles, devotionals, selections, and others.
“BSS General Secretary Ezekiel Tan volunteered to help PBS in the conduct of orientation meetings for the various Chinese churches in the Philippines to promote the use of Chinese Scriptures,” she explained.
Aside from the Philippines and Singapore, also present in the event were the United Bible Societies, Bible Society of Malaysia, the Hong Kong Bible Society, Thailand Bible Society, Taiwan Bible Society, and the UBS China Partnership.
“Through this collaboration, we will be able to offer Chinese scriptures in a variety of formats for the many Chinese churches in the Philippines, namely diglots, study Bibles, and scripture portions,” Mrs. Cartera said. – H.O.
