PBS Presents at the Youth for Chist Global Leaders Summit
PBS Communications Manager Hazel Alviz presenting the MTBO campaign at the YFC Global Leaders Summit.
Last August 13, 2011, the Philippine Bible Society presented the May They Be One Bible Campaign and the Handwritten Unity Bible Project at the Youth for Christ Global Leaders Summit held at 1Esplanade in Pasay City. The 3-day summit with the theme, “D.O.S.E. of Christ” was attended by over 200 YFC leaders hailing from all over the country and across the globe who have gathered together to further strengthen their leadership capabilities as Christ’s ambassadors.
The 2nd day of the leaders’ summit consisted of various programs updating the leaders about YFC’s current agendas, which include Cross-Culture missions abroad and the Liveloud concert which encourages the members to compose worship songs for the YFC community. The program also includes a Social Media Workshop conducted by Kids for Christ International Coordinator Voltz Lizardo.
Philippine Bible Society Communications Manager Hazel Alviz lead the presentation and encouraged the leaders to take part on this major campaign that aims to distribute five million Bibles to five million poor Filipino families in a span of seven years. She emphasized the importance of the campaign as sixty percent of our nation’s population do not own a Bible, which is an alarming fact considering that we are a predominantly Christian country. The leaders are then presented with a challenge to remedy this by getting involved with the campaign to help put a Bible in every Filipino home which is its primary goal. The Handwritten Unity Bible, a fundraising project for the MTBO campaign and a first-of-its-kind in the country, was also highlighted through a short but moving video presentation. The presentation ended on a good note as the delegates responded well by expressing their interest to the campaign and how they could get involved in it.
