PBS Marks 120 Years of Bible Proclamation

{Back to Back Celebration of Centennial Launching of Cebuano Bible Translation}

The Philippine Bible Society (PBS) will hold the 120th founding anniversary celebration and the commemoration of 100 years of Cebuano Bible translation in Cebu City on November 23, 2019.

Over 500 guests are expected to converge at the Mariner’s Hotel during the ecumenical event with this year’s theme: “#Generation2Generation: 120 Years of Bible Proclamation.” The event aims to celebrate God’s faithfulness to the ministry cause with partners, friends and advocates. It will highlight the 100 year journey of the Cebuano Bible translation to what it is today; the inspirational messages from the Archbishop of Cebu, Most Rev. Jose Palma; Bishop Noel Centino, chairman of the Metro Cebu Ministerial Fellowship; and Justice Raoul Victorino (Ret.), president and chairman of the PBS Board, among others.

The celebration will also bring to light the ministry’s mission of making the Bible known amidst changing times, the rise of new mindsets, and a modernized way of living.

Conjointly, PBS will also hold the Bible Relevance in Modern Times Seminars (BRIMS), a flagship program aimed at equipping Christians (Cebuanos) passionate for Christ. The 5-moduled BRIMS will be conducted by respected Bible scholars to enable pastors, teachers, missionaries, evangelists, and ministry leaders to have a good grasp of the Gospel.

For 120 years and counting, PBS remains to be a non-stock, non-profit, and inter-confessional organization that is inspired by its vision of seeing “a transformed Filipino people through God’s Word” become a reality. Composed of passionate and faithful servants of the Lord, the organization strives to make the Bible known and to make the Scriptures available to people in languages that they understand, in formats that meet their needs, and at prices they can afford.

The celebration is open to all. Those who have a heart for Bible causes and very much interested to join should get in touch with PBS Events Coordinator Bryan Anastacio through the following numbers: (02) 526-7777 loc. 633, (0933) 859 8825, or via email at

It's an honor and a privilege for me to support the Philippine Bible Society - to reach out to the unreachable people by giving Bibles not only in the Philippines but the whole world.

“It is a blessing to be able to support our local churches in need of Bibles and Bible study programs. It is our hope that they not only grow in terms of membership but also have the heart to extend spiritual help to others, just like how they have received help.”

“Philippine Bible Society organizes trainings that really respond to the needs of people who are suffering.
It has well-equipped leaders who facilitate trainings and workshops.

“I praise and thank our Almighty God that, through PBS, I now own a Poimen version of MBB (Magandang Balita Biblia) in the national language of the Philippines – Tagalog.
Knowing Matthew 10:32-33, I read and study the Bible so that I will not be dismayed when the Lord Jesus Christ comes. Life is too short compared with the promise of eternal life in God’s Kingdom.”

I think this is very helpful to every readers. The word of the Lord are the food of our soul which we always need every minute of our life. I dont often read the Bible but everytime i open it, God was always like in front of me and speaking as what is something i'm just needing to hear. He speaks to me and i can feel it. A million thanks to You my Lord.
