The Philippine Bible Society (PBS) held its 48th Annual Membership Meeting (AMM) last Saturday, April 20, at the 3rd floor, PBS Main Building, UN Avenue, Manila. The event was attended by about 250 members, with some coming from as far as Pangasinan, Batangas, Pampanga and Cavite.
The event started with a worship service which had Bro. Armin Luistro, FSC, Secretary of the Department of Education, as speaker. In his message, the Secretary stressed the importance of the Bible in the education system, saying the curriculum and the materials must be anchored on morals and values espoused by the Bible for change and progress to happen in the country. “We need a real revolution,“ says Luistro. “The most powerful weapon that can change the country is one that can change hearts. The Bible can change the Philippines!” He also lauded the work of PBS especially in the field of Translation, saying that the materials PBS has produced over the years have been used in various literacy efforts of the department. He even presented PBS with a plaque of appreciation. The Secretary also challenged PBS and its members to continue developing materials that would help instill Bible-based values in our youth, even going as far as opening doors for further dialogue toward this end. The Business meeting followed where the members elected its Board of Trustees for 2013-2014.

“It is a blessing to be able to support our local churches in need of Bibles and Bible study programs. It is our hope that they not only grow in terms of membership but also have the heart to extend spiritual help to others, just like how they have received help.”

“I praise and thank our Almighty God that, through PBS, I now own a Poimen version of MBB (Magandang Balita Biblia) in the national language of the Philippines – Tagalog.
Knowing Matthew 10:32-33, I read and study the Bible so that I will not be dismayed when the Lord Jesus Christ comes. Life is too short compared with the promise of eternal life in God’s Kingdom.”

I think this is very helpful to every readers. The word of the Lord are the food of our soul which we always need every minute of our life. I dont often read the Bible but everytime i open it, God was always like in front of me and speaking as what is something i'm just needing to hear. He speaks to me and i can feel it. A million thanks to You my Lord.
