PBS engages UST with Scriptures

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) High School Week was celebrated last February 22 to 26. Secondary-level students from grades 7 – 10, with the faculty members, attended the event. The said activity was also done in partnership with the Philippine Bible Society as Partners Relations Section Supervisor Mrs. Pearl Cabrera coordinated with UST-CLE Head Coordinator Mr. Joseph Christian Legaspi to showcase a ‘Bible Characters Presentation’ during the program held in UST’s Benavidez Auditorium.
PBS staff who portrayed the roles of the Bible characters were Laurence Salvador, EJ Villasin (as BIB, a PBS male mascot, each staff presented in 2 separate programs), Arsy Honorio and Raquel Gamos (as LIA, a PBS female mascot, each staff presented in 2 separate programs), Rafy Valerio (as Zachaeuss), Michelle Guamos (as Mama Mary), JB Paguirigan (as Naaman), Asher Bawaan (as Ruth), Dawn Moran (as Esther), and Carlo Rillon (as Paul). The PBS staff who portrayed the Bible characters rendered a ‘hip-hop’ dance to the tune of ‘Bilib Ako’ (sa Biblia ko), and also held a ‘Bible Q & A’ with fun prizes for the students on February 23 and 26.

Previous to the said event, PBS also conducted the Handwritten Unity Bible (HUB) activity as facilitated by PBS Partners Relations Section, last December 17, 2015 and January 11, 2016 which was participated in by 1,318 UST High School students from grades 7-10.
The recent UST and PBS endeavor was a productive partnership with UST Ecclesiastical Faculties where UST high school students were able to engage in Scriptures through the Bible Character Presentation and the Bible Q & A. PBS also maintained a good relationship by building on another activity with UST. Related to this development, a Handwritten Unity Bible activity was also scheduled on March 30 to April 1, 2016 at the University of Santo Tomas.
