The Philippine Bible Society (PBS) in partnership with the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) conducted simultaneous Bible distribution to LRTA employees in celebration of National Bible Week held January 24.
The Bible distribution was held in four major terminals of LRT Line 1 and Line 2, including Central, Baclaran, Cubao (Araneta) and Santolan. PBS deployed its personnel to the stations to facilitate the distribution.

About 3,000 pocket New Testaments (Magandang Balita) and “Our Daily Bread” devotional books sponsored by The Generics Pharmacy were given out to the recipients.

An average of 800,000 passengers use the LRT public transport system and PBS is cognizant of the challenges that the LRTA management and personnel face daily, such as irate passengers, pickpocket incidents and even suicide attempts. The Bible distribution is PBS way of helping LRTA employees manage their daily stresses.

PBS General Secretary Dr. Nora G. Lucero said “We want to share the Word of God with the hardworking people of LRTA to help uplift their spirit and provide inspiration to them.”
PBS staff also distributed copies of the Daily Bible Reading Guide (DBRG) to commuters to encourage them to read the Bible and follow God’s Word. “The Bible teaches us to follow the law, be disciplined and be mindful of others. These are basic tenets that when followed by everyone will also benefit all,” Lucero added.

For their part, the LRTA officer-in-charge Mr. Emerson L. Benitez said, “We are glad for having been chosen as one of the recipients of the Bible. We believe that the Word of God is a source of wisdom and strength that will aid us in serving our nation better.”

I am a Bible Ambassador because I believe that the Bible can help people a lot. And knowing the Bible, people come in touch with the Lord Jesus Christ.

“It is a blessing to be able to support our local churches in need of Bibles and Bible study programs. It is our hope that they not only grow in terms of membership but also have the heart to extend spiritual help to others, just like how they have received help.”

“Philippine Bible Society organizes trainings that really respond to the needs of people who are suffering.
It has well-equipped leaders who facilitate trainings and workshops.

Miriam del RosarioExecutive director at The Birthright Educators Foundation

“I praise and thank our Almighty God that, through PBS, I now own a Poimen version of MBB (Magandang Balita Biblia) in the national language of the Philippines – Tagalog.
Knowing Matthew 10:32-33, I read and study the Bible so that I will not be dismayed when the Lord Jesus Christ comes. Life is too short compared with the promise of eternal life in God’s Kingdom.”

I think this is very helpful to every readers. The word of the Lord are the food of our soul which we always need every minute of our life. I dont often read the Bible but everytime i open it, God was always like in front of me and speaking as what is something i'm just needing to hear. He speaks to me and i can feel it. A million thanks to You my Lord.
