PBS Bookstores… Sporting New Facelift?
When you’re trying to find a perfect book that would satisfy a reader’s itch, then you might find yourself more than just being inside a plain bookstore! Why so? If your feet happen to bring you to one of the Bible Houses in Manila, then brace yourselves to what their in-house conceptualizers have sported lately.
Well, if a face usually needs a make-up and not necessarily a facelift, here in the Bible Houses… their staff made up their creative minds to give their bookstores a little of that (ahem)… facelift.
Asked what’s with the monthly thematic designs? Sharon, who manages the bookstore, quips; “Customers have their feel of the world around them, if you set a mood in their consciousness, they get the feel of the environment.” And who says a Bible bookstore should be… (yawns) ‘boriiiiing’? Hmmm, we say with optimism that the Greatest Book of All deserves the most exciting bookstores!
But wait there’s more… Where in the world can you find an Interactive Bible House? No, not the interactive thingy that you are thinking, not gadgets nor push-buttons, but actual human interaction coming into play. Just take this treat for example:
Nowadays, they celebrate the 31 Days of March attributing it to the ‘Month of Graduation’. Some ‘politely cheerful’ or ‘cheerfully polite’ or what-have-you… a friendly staff would just escort you to a slick bench with a snappy background, and hand you a writing board which says; “When I grow up…” fill out the blanks, say cheese, click, post, then ‘voila’- get dozens of ‘likes’. Now that’s interactive in its full sense, ‘talk about ‘facelift’ in the bookstore and shares in your ‘facebook’ (weeeeeh).
And what a wonder and a sight-to-see last February! The Valen-Time and Feb-Ibig month where the Bible Houses were embellished with a touch of class… coming from the hearts with style 🙂 Kudos! to the Philippine Bible Society (PBS) in prepping up for us a bookstore with a new face for the next gen. Bookstores with youthful touch, so they say; for the young once and the young ones!
We wonder what’s the sight to see this April? That sure is a ‘must-see’ Bible House…
