New Chairman chosen for UBS Global Board

Nora Lucero, the General Secretary of the Philippine Bible Society (PBS), has been named as the United Bible Societies’ (UBS) new Board Chairman.
Her election to the position came at the start of the Global Board meeting at the UBS World Service Centre in Reading, England, this week. She succeeds the Rev Gerrit Kritzinger, who has served as Chairman for the past four years.
Elected to the position of Vice Chairman was Christian Mégrelis, who has been the Chairman of the French Bible Society since 2007. He also serves on the UBS Europe Middle East Area Board.
Mrs. Lucero has served on the UBS Global Board and as a member of the Finance and Audit Committee for two years. After serving as the PBS Deputy General Secretary for 18 years, in 2004 she succeeded Dr Medarlo Rivera as General Secretary — the first woman to hold that office. She also served as a member of the UBS Asia-Pacific Area Board.
Speaking after her appointment, Mrs Lucero said, “We, the Global Board, continue to be deeply committed to the effective and meaningful distribution of God’s Word and to helping people to interact with it.
“As a Fellowship,” she added, “we have a common commitment to bringing the living Word in the most relevant manner to the people of the world in these rapidly changing times.”
Among the duties facing Mrs Lucero as Board Chairman will be to present the report of the Global Board to the UBS World Assembly when it meets in South Korea in September 2010.
She is married to a pastor and they have four children.
The Global Board also elected Prof Miltiadis Konstantinou Chairman of the Committee On Translation Policy. Prof Konstantinou is Professor of Old Testament at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a board member of the Greek Bible Society.

I am a Bible Ambassador because I believe that the Bible can help people a lot. And knowing the Bible, people come in touch with the Lord Jesus Christ.

It's an honor and a privilege for me to support the Philippine Bible Society - to reach out to the unreachable people by giving Bibles not only in the Philippines but the whole world.

“It is a blessing to be able to support our local churches in need of Bibles and Bible study programs. It is our hope that they not only grow in terms of membership but also have the heart to extend spiritual help to others, just like how they have received help.”

It has well-equipped leaders who facilitate trainings and workshops.

“I praise and thank our Almighty God that, through PBS, I now own a Poimen version of MBB (Magandang Balita Biblia) in the national language of the Philippines – Tagalog.
Knowing Matthew 10:32-33, I read and study the Bible so that I will not be dismayed when the Lord Jesus Christ comes. Life is too short compared with the promise of eternal life in God’s Kingdom.”

I think this is very helpful to every readers. The word of the Lord are the food of our soul which we always need every minute of our life. I dont often read the Bible but everytime i open it, God was always like in front of me and speaking as what is something i'm just needing to hear. He speaks to me and i can feel it. A million thanks to You my Lord.
