He added that the Bible reveals the “secret to heavenly blessings”(Matt 6:33.) The Bishop quoted great men of history as referring to the Bible as “the cornerstone of liberty “ (Thomas Jefferson) and as pivotal to the “hope of human progress” (W. H. Seward). Bishop Abante invited his listeners to read the Bible as a love letter from a God who truly cares.
b. Manila Police District. Bishop Daniel Arichea gave the exhortation
In his message, Bishop Arichea said “we as a people are divided; our divisions show up in many places. There is violence and armed conflict in many parts of our land. There is injustice and suffering among our people. There is therefore a real need for us as a people to rediscover for ourselves the message of justice, reconciliation, and peace and to make it a reality all over our country. In our endeavor to achieve this, we have help from God’s Word, for God’s Word is indeed the source of justice, reconciliation, and peace. That is why the Philippine Bible Society continues to promote the Bible as a Manual to Life for every Filipino and in every Filipino home. That is why we celebrate National Bible Week. And it is our hope that all of us will discover the importance of God’s Word in our lives, in our work, and in our relationships, so that our country will indeed experience justice, reconciliation and peace.
After the exhortation, Bishop Arichea together with Juliet Jimeno, PBS Communications Manager presented ESV Bibles to the MPD leadership — District Director PSupt. Roberto Rosales, Sr. Supt. Knowing Matthew 10:32-33, I read and study the Bible so that I will not be dismayed when the Lord Jesus Christ comes. Life is too short compared with the promise of eternal life in God’s Kingdom.”
