January 21-27 VISAYAS
Bacolod City. This is the 3rd time that Bacolod City celebrated NBW. The Bacolod Pastors Prayer Fellowship (BPPF) a Ministerial Fellowship headed by Pastor Dave King of Trinity Christian Fellowship attended the flag raising ceremony at the city hall together with city employees, barangay captains and city councilors. Ptr. Joebert Ramos, pastor of His Life Ministries is the Chairman of the NBW celebration for Bacolod City. Meanwhile, Ptr. Armin Ramos reports that their week-long program included the airing of Bible Reflections to all the radio stations AM & FM (Jan 22-27), BPPF Bible quiz at The New Rafaellos Restaurant (Jan. 24), and National Bible Sunday services in most of the Churches in Bacolod City with BPPF coverage.
Cebu City. Despite the rain, the motorcade organized by Cebu ministers pushed through. They attended the flag raising ceremony at the city hall where Pastor Joey Eguia (Chairman of the Cebu Ministerial Fellowship) led the prayer for government officials. Pastor Ezekiel Coscolluela is the Chairman of NBW Cebu City celebration that is now on it’s 2nd year.
Dumaguete City. The celebration featured a motorcade which culminated at the City Hall. Ptr. Jinggo Punzalan chairman of NBW Dumaguete said they also had a 24-hour Bible Reading Marathon that lasted three and a half days and was participated in by the Governor, other public officials, and the president of Silliman University. After the marathon, they turned over the Bible to the City Council. Inspired by the Dumaguete celebration, Pastor Eammanuel Torreda, Chairman of the Bayawan Ministerial Fellowship said they will stage their very first NBW celebration much like that of Dumaguete but without the marathon Bible Reading. He also committed to the airing of the Reflections CD in Bayawan City during the week.
Iloilo. Local pastors participated in the Flag Raising ceremony at the Municipal Hall where Bishop Johnny Yasa was the guest speaker. Celebrating for the second year, the Evangelical Ministers Fellowship in Iloilo City had a motorcade and a special offering taken on Bible Sunday. They prominently displayed NBW posters and materials in the different barangay halls, at the city hall and provincial capitol of the city.
Ormoc City. The City Council passed an ordinance declaring last week of January as Bible Week. On Monday, the Ministerial Fellowship coordinated the flag raising ceremony with NBW emphasis followed by a motorcade, participated by Catholic faithful, priests and independent churches. Pastor Diomedes Cabardo Lasaga, Chairman of NBW Ormoc City celebration said that by the grace of God, it rained only after the flag raising and motorcade were concluded.
Tagbilaran City. The Ministerial Fellowship organized a motorcade after the Flag Raising ceremony Ptr. Manny Cabardo says pastors from seven cities in the Visayas province promised to collect special offerings during National Bible Sunday. These cities are Cebu, Bacolod, Bayawan, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Ormoc and Tagbilaran. The collections will be remitted to the Bible Society after which Bibles will be shipped to the different cities for distribution to their members. The NBW Reflection CD was also aired in several local radio stations in Tagbilaran as part of its 2nd year of celebrating the Bible Week.
