National Bible Week Around the Nation
A festive National Bible Week celebration took place around the country from January 21- 27, 2013. This annual event was participated in by various churches and parishes and featured Bible-related activities that celebrated the most powerful book ever written. Local government agencies and units, towns, cities and municipalities as well as schools and organizations held programs focused on the National Bible Week’s theme “Proclaim the Word, Profess the Faith” based from Psalm 119:105 and 2 Timothy 4:2.
Flag raising ceremonies by local government units and agencies features special programs honoring the Bible. Among the LGUs that celebrated were Manila Police district, Marikina, Imus, Pasig, Kawit, San Juan, Baguio, Cavite, Palawan, Sampaloc, San Pablo, Valenzuela, Cebu, Pasay, Pateros and Guiguinto, Bulacan.
Highlighting the week-long celebration was the Bible Distribution among the LRTA employees on January 24. Selected staffs from PBS were dispatched to four major stations to assist in the distribution of selections, tracts and New Testament Bibles. The LRTA management also supported the NBW celebration by allowing the posting of NBW tarpaulin in all LRT Stations.
Partnerships with various organizations also paved the way for the conduct of educational yet fun-filled activities. These include story telling sessions and Bible Museum tours for members of the National Council of Churches in the Philippines and Rightstart ministries. The Landbank of the Philippines hosted the Roving Bible Museum for a week and conducted a 2-day Handwritten Unity Bible event at their main office in Padre Faura. Meanwhile, San Pablo, Laguna also requested for the Roving Bible Museum to visit them and to stage a Handwritten Unity Bible event as part of their NBW Celebration.
