National Bible Week 2009 kicks off at GOSPEL JAM

National Bible Week 2009 kicked off in style at the Conspiracy Café last January 18, 2009 where the Philippine Bible Society in cooperation with Gospel Jam and The Edge Radio staged a dramatized public reading of selected biblical passages.  Billed “Project Rhema”, the Sunday event was the first in a series of public Scripture readings aimed at encouraging Filipinos to read the Bible.
Project Rhema Batch 1 readers were led by veteran voice practitioner Mely “Miss Tapia” Tagasa who also shared her life testimony. Shirley Escalante, DZBB newscaster and GMA 7 continuity announcer, interpreted the female parts beautifully as theater actors Francis Matheu and David Sta. Maria gave powerful renditions of male parts. Greg Morales, another professional voice talent, meanwhile moved everyone with his emotive reading of Jesus’ lines. The “jamming” part was brought in by James Sace, Lace Ramos and Audone through music and songs that served to enliven the experience even more.
The Pinoy Version of the Gospel of Mark was also introduced with Joyce Titular of Edge Radio rendering a convincing “Pinoy youth speak”. Ditas Pangilinan of Gospel Jam says visitors to the Edge Radio site who saw and heard the live video stream were clamoring for copies of the Pinoy V.
Through Project Rhema, the Bible was enthroned and was able to touch many lives that night. It is a positive and definitive step in bringing the Scriptures to public places for people to relive, experience and live in the hope that in God’s perfect time it will be instrumental in transforming the lives of our people and our nation.
