MAKING THE BIBLE KNOWN

“Ngayon lang kami naka-experience ng ganitong [creation care] forum. Walang katulad ninyo na nagtuturo ng ganun, kasi more on seminar tungkol sa local government, peace and order, pagpapatupad ng mga kaayusan, o sports,” shared Ricardo Pichay Sr., Barangay Administrator of Barangay 190, Don Carlos Village, Pasay City.

Ricardo was among the participants of the Creation Care Forum organized by the Philippine Bible Society (PBS) as part of its Ministry Social Responsibility (MSR) initiative held last September 20, 2025.

During the event, PBS chaplain Ptr. Noli Mendoza talked about the connections between life, faith, and science, emphasizing that caring for creation is an act of obedience and worship to God. Participants also received their own copies of the Pinoy Version New Testament (The Generics Pharmacy Edition) and the Karunungan for Life booklet.

Ricardo shared how the session inspired both barangay officials and residents to take part in caring for their environment. “Malaki ang naitulong ng forum kasi na-refresh ang kaisipan [ng mga tao dito] na matuto sila sa ganoong obligasyon. Malaking bagay yung natuto sila, hindi lang ang barangay [officials],” he said.

After the forum, he noticed a visible change in their community where more residents have been joining their weekly Saturday clean-up drive: “Nakakatuwa yung mga constituents namin kasi kumikilos kaming [magkakasama]. Aside from the barangay [officials], naghihikayat kami ng mga tagakomunidad na tumulong sa clean-up drive [at] dumami ang mga nag-join,” he added.

Another MSR event on creation care followed on October 3, 2025, in Sitio Panapaan 5, Barangay P.F. Espiritu 4, Bacoor City, Cavite, where 150 participants also learned about the interdependence of God’s creation and reflected once more on the biblical call to stewardship with Ptr. Noli Mendoza.

With more MSR activities scheduled to take place in schools, churches, and communities, PBS continues to share the message that we are part of God’s creation and that we are called to be its faithful stewards.
