i-Proclaim! in Kawit, Cavite kicks off National Bible Week 2012 Celebration

Kawit Mayor Tik Aguinaldo opens the Bible reading during i-Proclaim!

Philippine Bible Society in partnership with the local government of Kawit, Cavite officially kicked off the National Bible Week 2012 celebration last January 13 at the Aguinaldo Shrine with a continuous 12-hour public oral Bible reading, more popularly known as i-Proclaim!. Launched in 2010 by PBS in partnership with other Christian organizations, the i-Proclaim! is a campaign that aims to bring God’s Word closer to Filipinos and encourage everyone to explore its riches and relevance.
In conjunction with this year’s NBW theme, “Pagpapahayag ng Salita ng Diyos Tungo sa Pagbabago” (Proclaiming God’s Word Towards National Transformation), it is only fitting that the historic Aguinaldo Shrine, the place where our independence was first proclaimed, was chosen as the venue for i-Proclaim!. The Bible reading was continuously held from 8AM to 8PM interspersed with song and dance performances courtesy of representatives from the local churches and schools in the various municipalities of Cavite. The program then capped off with a band concert in the evening. A total of 250 readers participated in the program, among them were Kawit Mayor Tik Aguinaldo, representatives from FEBC, SIL, TAP Wycliffe, Philippine Missionary Institute, NCCP, and various local churches in Cavite.
This year’s i-Proclaim! was another success as people from all walks of life came together in one place to read God’s Word, setting aside their differences all for His glory. Through this celebration PBS hopes that our nation will finally achieve unity and transformation through God’s Word.
