God’s Spirit is Always with Us

God’s Spirit is Always with Us
(Reference material: I am Somebody)

How can we even begin to describe the comfort of knowing that God sent the Holy Spirit as our Helper? What great peace and joy this brings us!
Compiled below are a couple of verses that reveal the role of God’s Spirit in our lives. May we be encouraged and empowered by the truths found in the Scriptures.

“One of the joys of knowing Christ is having the assurance that God’s Spirit is always with us.”

-an excerpt from I am Somebody (PBS-published Selection material)

God’s Spirit directs and controls my life

The Spirit and Human Nature

16 What I say is this: let the Spirit direct your lives, and you will not satisfy the desires of the human nature. 17 For what our human nature wants is opposed to what the Spirit wants, and what the Spirit wants is opposed to what our human nature wants. These two are enemies, and this means that you cannot do what you want to do. 18 If the Spirit leads you, then you are not subject to the Law.

Galatians 5:16-18 Good News Translation (GNT)

22 But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have put to death their human nature with all its passions and desires. 25 The Spirit has given us life; he must also control our lives.

Galatians 5:22-25 Good News Translation (GNT)

God’s Spirit teaches me everything

The Promise of the Holy Spirit

15 “If you love me, you will obey my commandments. 16 I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, who will stay with you forever. 17 He is the Spirit, who reveals the truth about God. The world cannot receive him, because it cannot see him or know him. But you know him, because he remains with you and is[a] in you.

John 14:15-17 Good News Translation (GNT)

But I am telling you the truth: it is better for you that I go away, because if I do not go, the Helper will not come to you. But if I do go away, then I will send him to you.

John 16:7 Good News Translation (GNT)

12 “I have much more to tell you, but now it would be too much for you to bear. 13 When, however, the Spirit comes, who reveals the truth about God, he will lead you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own authority, but he will speak of what he hears and will tell you of things to come.

John 16:12-13 Good News Translation (GNT)

Prayer:

I am grateful to You, dear Lord, for sending me Your Holy Spirit as my Helper. I acknowledge that I need You in my life.

May I learn to obey Your Word and live it out each day.

Amen
