God Our Protector: A Psalm 91 Photography Challenge

The smartphones that we carry around everywhere we go give us access to a mobile photography studio that is literally open 24/7. How amazing it is that with one small gadget we have the opportunity to capture precious memories with friends and family, to remember the delicious food we ordered, and to preserve images of breathtaking places we have visited!

As we continue accumulating digital snapshots of our days, may we cultivate a consistent attitude of gratitude. How often do we give thanks to the Lord for each new day that He blesses us with?

We created this Psalm 91 Photography Challenge to honor the Lord and to celebrate Him as our ever faithful protector. Here are 15 words that will serve as the prompts for this creative challenge:

These words are highlighted from Psalm 91. The challenge is simple: one word = one photo.

God Our Protector: A Psalm 91 Photography Challenge

God Our Protector

Whoever goes to the LORD for safety,
whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty,
can say to him,
“You are my defender and protector.
You are my God; in you I trust.”
He will keep you safe from all hidden dangers
and from all deadly diseases.
He will cover you with his wings;
you will be safe in his care;
his faithfulness will protect and defend you.
You need not fear any dangers at night
or sudden attacks during the day
or the plagues that strike in the dark
or the evils that kill in daylight.
A thousand may fall dead beside you,
ten thousand all around you,
but you will not be harmed.
You will look and see
how the wicked are punished.
You have made the LORD your defender,
the Most High your protector,
and so no disaster will strike you,
no violence will come near your home.
God will put his angels in charge of you
to protect you wherever you go.
They will hold you up with their hands
to keep you from hurting your feet on the stones.
You will trample down lions and snakes,
fierce lions and poisonous snakes.
God says, “I will save those who love me
and will protect those who acknowledge me as LORD.
When they call to me, I will answer them;
when they are in trouble, I will be with them.
I will rescue them and honor them.
I will reward them with long life;
I will save them.”
Psalm 91, Good News Translation (GNT)

Some people may prefer the traditional route and take one photo per day for every word prompt. Others may choose to do a photo walk (alone or with a group) and get all the photos in one go.

What matters most is that this Photography Challenge draws all of us closer to God, our Heavenly Father, who is the original and ultimate source of creativity.

It is time to push our documentation skills to the next level. Are you ready to take on this challenge? Send us a compiled album of your photos at contactus@bible.org.ph. We cannot wait to see them!

“I praise and thank our Almighty God that, through PBS, I now own a Poimen version of MBB (Magandang Balita Biblia) in the national language of the Philippines – Tagalog.
Knowing Matthew 10:32-33, I read and study the Bible so that I will not be dismayed when the Lord Jesus Christ comes. Life is too short compared with the promise of eternal life in God’s Kingdom.”

I think this is very helpful to every readers. The word of the Lord are the food of our soul which we always need every minute of our life. I dont often read the Bible but everytime i open it, God was always like in front of me and speaking as what is something i'm just needing to hear. He speaks to me and i can feel it. A million thanks to You my Lord.
