Faith and Forgiveness

Faith and Forgiveness
A testimony of Junita Dincog from Ifugao Province
July 20, 2018
There are many stories in this world that are worthy to be written and told. One such story is Junita also been a long-time Philippine Bible Society (PBS) member ever since she came to know about the Faith Comes By Hearing (FCBH) ministry years ago.
Growing up, Junita felt hatred and resentment towards both of her parents. Being the only girl, she was blamed for the faults and shortcomings of her brothers. She would get spanked and hit as a child, and she felt like her mother did not care for her at all. Her home life didn’t feel like a safe space and wasn’t ideal for any child who simply yearned to be loved.
But God did not allow this anger to last for long.
When Junita read John 3:16, she felt God’s love and realized she was a sinner in need of God’s forgiveness. Only then did her resentment towards her parents start fading away little by little until it eventually disappeared. Junita admitted that it was hard to forgive at first. But through reading the Bible and internalizing its truths and promises, Junita realized that she had to forgive. After all, God forgave her. “God spoke to me,” Junita said.
Junita’s school life wasn’t any better. She noted how she would go to school with incomplete materials and insufficient allowance. Sometimes, there would be no allowance at all. However, when there would be a need in their community to provide food for a celebration, her parents would always be ready to shell out money. It hurt Junita to know that they could spend on other things but not on their own child.
This cold, unloving home environment led Junita to harbor anger in her heart for both her mother and her father.
Being an FCBH recipient, Junita remarks how the Proclaimer, a gadget that is able to play an audio recording of the Scriptures, has proven to be very useful for her and her failing eyesight. She takes her Proclaimer with her to the garden when she is doing her daily routine and work. It was also the Proclaimer that led her previously unbelieving husband to come to know Christ. Now, both husband and wife are servants of the Lord.
Today, Junita is still strong in her faith journey. She notes that her church, Love of Christ Ministry Bolar, is quite small. However, it is growing. In fact, it is growing so much that they have plans to expand the church and even have a separate section for the children’s ministry.
Junita says that FCBH has truly helped her find true peace and joy. Praise God for another life He has blessed with His Word!
