Deaf Fellowship in Celebration of National Bible Month 2025

As part of the National Bible Month celebration, the Philippine Bible Society (PBS) hosted a Deaf Fellowship on January 14, 2025.

The PBS Filipino Sign Language (FSL) Translation Team facilitated the event and brought together church leaders and pastors from across Metro Manila. A key part of the program was the distribution of Scripture materials, including a flash drive device loaded with the 45 Follow God How (FGH) FSL Bible stories in video format. This tool allows participants to share God’s Word within their churches and communities, offline. However, the flash drive is exclusive to those invited to the fellowship, guaranteeing that the material is protected and used appropriately.

To further promote access to Scripture, the PBS team provided a walkthrough of the Follow God How (FGH) page on the PBS website, ensuring participants could easily access the same Bible stories and resources tailored for the Deaf community. Unlike the flash drive, these digital resources can be accessed anytime with an internet connection. However, they are also protected and cannot be downloaded.

To introduce the participants to National Bible Month, Ms. Joylyn Pascual from the PBS FSL Team shared a reflection on The Great Catch of Fish from Luke 5:1–11, highlighting its connection to this year’s theme: “God’s Word: Source of H.O.P.E. (Harmony, Obedience, Peace, Empowerment).”

The Bible Society looks forward to holding more gatherings and building a stronger partnership with the Filipino Deaf community to spread God’s Word.

During the fellowship, PBS General Secretary Mrs. Perry Cartera expressed words of encouragement:

“Hindi aksidente na naririto kayo. (It is not an accident that you are here.) You are called by God to share His Word with the Deaf community. You are doing a great job in partnership with God.”

This gathering reaffirms PBS’s dedication to making God’s Word available to everyone, including the Deaf community, and emphasizes the importance of unity in spreading the Gospel.
