BRIMS Trains More than 3.5k in Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao

More than 3,500 pastors, priests, catechists, Sunday school teachers and children’s ministry workers from different churches and parishes in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao were blessed and equipped to develop their respective ministries for children and the youth. This, following their participation in various training series under the Bible Relevance in Modern Times Seminar (BRIMS) held from July to November this year.

According to Philippine Bible Society Associate General Secretary Perry Cartera, Scripture Marketing Officers (SMO) that serve different areas all over the country were able to organize a total of 25 seminars during the said period.

“As our flagship training program, our SMOs continue to actively arrange these kinds of training to edify and empower local church leaders and workers, especially those involved in children’s and youth ministries,” Mrs. Cartera said.

From November 3 to 6, North and Central Luzon Regional Auxiliary Bible Office Manager Esmeralda Dizon organized Bible seminars in different areas in the province of Pangasinan, namely Urdaneta City, Lingayen, Mangaldan, San Carlos City, and Alaminos. A total of 1,479 individuals attended the series of seminars that were part of the Pangasinan Bible Centennial celebrations.

 

She also spearheaded seminars held in Mangaldan Pangasinan last July 25, Casiguran Aurora last August 13, Cagayan de Oro last September 3, and, Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija last October 10, where a total of 486 individuals were blessed and equipped.

Meanwhile, more close to 200 individuals were blessed and equipped in the Bible seminar organized by SMO Mark Anthony Rojas last November 14 in Los Baños, Laguna, while another 179 individuals in Romblon benefitted from the training seminars he spearheaded there last October.

For her part, Mrs. Cartera led the a training series entitled, “Why Focus on the Children (WFOC) held last September 30 in Iloilo, attended by 130 participants, while NCR Sales Supervisor Vicky Franco led WFOC seminars in Boac, Marinduque in October, and in the towns of Mulanay and Gumaca in the province of Quezon in August and September. A total of 382 individuals attended the said training series.

Translation Consultant Dr. Daniel Arichea, Jr. also keynoted a BRIMS training on Biblical Interpretation last September 18 at the PBS Ministry Facility along UN Avenue.

Publishing Manager Dr. Edgar Ebojo also led seminars on the Cebuano Full Life Study Bible in General Santos City last July 13, Digos City, Davao del Sur last July 14, Tagum City, Davao del Norte last July 15, Davao City last July 16, Cagayan De Oro City last August 31 and September 3, and in Bacolod, Lanao del Norte last September 2. A total of 579 participants were in attendance.

Apart from WFGOC, the training series also feature lectures on Hermeneutics, Homiletics, and Dei Verbum, among others. Lecturers include PBS Translation Consultant Dr. Annie del Corro, PBS Chaplain Rev. Noli Mendoza, Pastor Mel Cartera, and Dr. Natividad Pagadut of the Episcopal Commission on the Biblical Apostolate.
