Blessings Beyond Our Imagination

Blessings Beyond Our Imagination
A testimony of Amor Becite from Sampaloc, Manila
July 11, 2018
The reality of miracles has been displayed in the Bible time and time again. God parted the Red Sea for the Israelites in Exodus. Jesus multiplied fish and loaves to feed thousands, raised the dead, and healed the sick. It would take a while to list all of the wonderful things God has done for His people in the Bible. However, for Amor Becite, one particular story would hold more meaning than others. We remember Abraham’s wife Sarah who was very old at the time she gave birth to Isaac. This was a true miracle indeed!
Amor Becite’s life was forever changed by the Bible. It became her source of inspiration and hope, especially when life did not make sense. Through Scripture, Amor encountered the amazing love of God. This is a love that provides and goes beyond our wildest dreams and expectations.
The miracle that Amor regards as God’s greatest triumph in her life so far is the birth of her little boy. Amor gave birth at the age of 46. She had been praying for a child for a long time.
Given her age, Amor expected a lot of difficulties. The stumbling blocks came pouring in one after the other. First of all, Amor had hyperthyroidism. This is a condition brought about by changes in hormone production and can lead to dramatic weight loss.
Aside from having to deal with hyperthyroidism, Amor had hypertension and diabetes. Imagine having to endure the discomfort and pain that these illnesses brought while being pregnant. And the trials didn’t stop there.
Though she had a relatively normal delivery, she gave birth to a premature baby. According to the scales, the baby weighed 750 grams and was so incredibly small that he fit in the clasped hands of his mother. He spent two months in the ICN or intensive care nursery. His health was in critical condition during the first two weeks of his life.
While all these things were happening, the bills kept on coming. Amor knew she had to hold on to the Lord whom she personally met and encountered in 2012. There was no turning back ever since. Amor reads the Bible consistently up to this day.
Eventually, Amor was able to pay her medical bills. She received a lot of help in this season of her life, proving that the Lord really does know best and has command over time.
Amor’s baby boy has grown up a lot now and is no longer as small as he used to be. He celebrated three healthy years of life last July.
Like Amor, we can also hang on to God and His Word. We can only know what He promises if we read the Bible. The Bible is our guide to life and to knowing the heart of our Father. We pray that many more people will be encouraged to engage with the Holy Scriptures.
