Bible Societies in Asia Attend 3rd UBS Asian Affinity Alliance
General Secretaries and CEOs of Bible Societies in Asia gathered for the 3rd consultation meeting of the United Bible Societies – Asian Affinity Alliance (UBS-AAA) last March 10 to 12 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The Ceylon Bible Society, which is led by Atty. Lakshmi Fernando, hosted the regional event.
“It was a good time to look ahead at what’s happening with the Bible Societies in Asia, a good forum to evaluate how we can work together to enhance the mission of the Bible Societies in the region,” Philippine Bible Society General Secretary Dr. Nora Lucero said.
The UBS-AAA was formalized two years ago after General Secretaries in Asia formed the affinity group during the inaugural consultation meeting at Ross Memorial Hall of the Korean Bible Society. Japan Bible Society hosted the GS consultation meeting the following year.
The GS’ consultation meetings are held annually and encourage Bible Societies in Asia to work together and develop partnerships and collaborations especially in the area of Bible missions. The leaders of these national Bible Societies also discuss and share information, resources, and expertise in building common and more effective strategies in spreading God’s Word.
