An Open Letter to the Anxious Heart

How are you feeling today? Are you anxious? Are you worried about your health? Are you worried about someone in your family? Or, are you unsure about your career?
Maybe the people you pass by every day carry the same worries too. It’s possible that the man you are standing next to in line at the bus station is worrying about his health. The vendor at your favorite food stall could be worrying about her finances. The mom who is standing across the street from you with three kids by her side may be worrying about paying the current month’s rent.
No matter how universal worry is, God knows what’s going on in your life.
His Word is very encouraging. Through the Bible, the Lord will uplift you and fill you with His care and love. Psalm 23 is the perfect example of this. Let this be God’s love letter to calm your heart:
Psalm 23 The Lord Our Shepherd (Good News Translation)
23 The Lord is my shepherd;
I have everything I need.
2 He lets me rest in fields of green grass
and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water.
3 He gives me new strength.
He guides me in the right paths,
as he has promised.
4 Even if I go through the deepest darkness,
I will not be afraid, Lord,
for you are with me.
Your shepherd’s rod and staff protect me.
5 You prepare a banquet for me,
where all my enemies can see me;
you welcome me as an honored guest
and fill my cup to the brim.
6 I know that your goodness and love will be with me all my life;
and your house will be my home as long as I live.
We hope that these words will act as a comforting reminder that God, our Heavenly Father, is ultimately loving and faithful.
