A Year of Miracles
“A difficult yet a good year” was how Philippine Bible Society General Secretary Nora Lucero described 2005.
This came after Mrs. Lucero presented her Stewardship Report during the PBS 41st annual membership meeting held at the Sta. Mesa Ministry Facility.
The General Secretary’s report highlighted an over-all distribution figure of 13, 187,989, which is 20 % higher than the projected target for 2005. Mrs. Lucero was also glad to report that PBS’ financial performance was something to be grateful for as well, exceeding the target by 0.3 %.
She also kept the members up-to-date on the acquisition and full-time operation of the PBS printing facility in Lawang Bato, Valenzuela City. Mrs. Lucero gave the members a virtual tour of the plant and presented them with copies of the first batch of New Testaments printed from the facility.
Another important item on the agenda was the election of new members to the Board of Directors. Nominated to the Board were Sorsogon Bishop Arturo Bastes, Amelita Herrera, Dante Lanorio, Rev. Marie Sol Sioco-Villalon, Rev. Philip Flores, Atty. Editha Santos, and Tan Ching Heng.
The 156 members in attendance unanimously elected the nominees to the Board, who, in turn, were given a warm welcome after their assumption of office.
Meanwhile, Board of Directors’ Executive Committee member Rene Cristobal led the worship service that preceded the business meeting. President and Chairman of the Board Bishop Efraim Tendero, who was guest speaker for the service, spoke on the importance of the Bible, its relevance in today’s society and in the lives of every Filipino.
Mrs Lucero also acknowledged and thanked the members and everyone who participated in the event for their unwavering support to the Bible Society’s ministry and vision.
