BIBLE TALK GOES TO REGION II

Picture4“Why so many versions?”  is one of the most common questions about Bible Translation. In its mandate to make the Bible known, the Philippine Bible Society also reaches out to widen and deepen people’s understanding about the Bible. Hence, PBS has been conducting seminars and workshops to provide better understanding of Bible versions.
Bible Scholar and PBS Translation Consultant Dr Annie Del Corro trooped way from Manila to Cauayan, Isabela, with Dr. Nora Lucero and Mrs. Perry Cartera to conduct a seminar and presentation on ‘Why So Many Versions?’ and bring the answer to that question. The 102 participants who went to the JIL Church, venue of the seminar, had an interesting and lively discussion after Dr. Annie’s presentation about Bible versions. When asked what kind of Bible translation is best for a Tagalog-speaking 15 year old teenager and a new Christian, the newly enlightened participants replied: “meaning-based translation!”.
Praise God for the success of the seminar. We pray for wider opportunities for such a seminar to be brought to every region of the country to bring a much deeper understanding of the Bible and its versions.
