The Philippine Bible Society and the rest of the Christian community thank President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as the first President to issue Proclamation 124 declaring the month of January of every year as National Bible Month, culminating in the last week thereof as National Bible Week. This strengthens the importance of the Bible in molding the character of the Filipinos in their family life and nation building at the start of the year. This proclamation upholds biblical principles in dealing with the citizenry and different sectors in society.
Bible-related events such as Bible enthronement, Bible distributions, fun runs, Bible quizzes, and Bible reading called the I-Proclaim, among others, have been lined up across the country by churches, schools, Local Government Units, and Non-Government Organizations.
Details of the nationwide celebration and conduct of activities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao can be resourced from the PBS website: www.bible.org.ph. We enjoin the whole nation to celebrate the National Bible Month in more meaningful and creative ways.
